I have admitted to anyone willing to listen to my excitement for the opening of Trader Joes this Friday that I realize my giddiness is slightly pathetic. I mean, it's a store, for Pete's sake. For Joe's sake, let's be honest.

But, DANG! I haven't been this excited for something in quite some time. I don't know why they haven't invited me to a sneak peek showing. I mean, for real, how many blogs are dedicated to a grocery store coming to an entire state?

The Salt Lake Tribune posted some pictures of the store today and let's just say, "It's on. Oh yes, it is ON!"

Holy Joe's! It is coming. 


And then we all joined hands and cried great walloping tears of joy and gratitude. Our pleas were heard. Our culinary prayers have been answered.


Trader Joe's is coming to Salt Lake City by year's end.

What the what? ABC 4 reported last night that Trader Joe's has scouts searching for a Utah location.


Could it be true? Do we dare hold our breath in anticipation?


Some say YES and others say FAT CHANCE.


Fourth South and 7th East? Yeah, I know it. I'll be there.

I know that is has been a while since I posted about my NEED for Trader Joes to come to Utah.

Guess what? I haven't forgotten my old flame. It's hard not to believe so much of the gossip. Some say they won't come to Utah because of our liquor laws, and TJs thrives off selling their Two Buck Chuck. Trader Joe himself claims that it's a distribution issue (well, not really Joe, but representatives have said this).


To which I say REALLY, TJs? But you can have three in New Mexico and one in Spokane? Come on! Give some love to the Rockies. 

I use my Trader Joes reusable bags all of the time. And wouldn't you know it, every single time someone gets excited at the sight of them, hoping that I got them close by. I have to relive my sadness as I commiserate with the hapless individuals who also love Trader Joes.

What are we going to do, TJ? 

I have an idea... !

Better than Oreos, HANDS DOWN.  (Also, more fat grams and calories per cookie than Oreos, but we won't go there.)


Have you had the Candy Cane Joe-Joe's?  Better yet, have you had the Candy Cane Joe-Joe's dipped in dark chocolate?  Oh BOY!  I think I gained 2 lbs just thinking about them, but I am also happier.


Come on Trader Joe's, spread your love to Utah!  We'll love you back, I promise!

Trader Joe's does cookies!

My kids love the Chocolatey Cat Cookies (for People) and I love the Triple Ginger Cookies (also for people).


I don't like that I have to ration them.

HEY TJs--I found a place for you in UTAH!

And guess what else, Trader Joe's?  I found you a PERFECT location to put your FIRST Trader Joe's store in UTAH!  And it just might be within walking distance from my house.  And it just came available.  And there is an empty lot across the street you can buy so there will be enough places for all of your loving followers to park.

Oh, Trader Joe's, come to Utah.  You don't realize how much fun we'd have together.  I'd stop by your place every week and pick up some beautiful flowers and bring them to my home or to somebody in need of a bright pick-me-up.  And then we'd all say, "Oh, isn't Trader Joe's divine?"

Trader Joe's offers all kinds of chocolatey-salty-and-crunchy goodness.  These have to be MY favorite.  I admit, though, not being able to buy very many, otherwise I would eat each and every bag that is in my home.

That's why we need Trader Joe's in Utah NOW!  So we can buy one or two of an item at a time.  

... And then go back next week for more!

Hummus

There are at least 10 versions of hummus.  My favorite is the plain Original Hummus (red and blue packaging--seen on the very far right).  Dip some veggies in or pita chips.  Smother on a pita with homemade falafel balls.

Oh, how I miss the Whole Wheat Pizza Dough.  For only $1.29 I could use all of the extra veggies in my fridge and make a healthy, awesome pizza.

Dried fruit, raw nuts, flavored nuts, freeze-dried fruit, trail mixes.


There are my beloved Dried JUST MANGO SLICES for only $2.99.  I love those!!  Have you tried the dried blueberries?  I'm wishing I picked up a bag or two.

Special trip to Trader Joe's

I just got back from AZ and a special trip to Trader Joe's.  I was so giddy it was pretty ridiculous.  It was right before Valentine's Day so there were more flowers than usual.  I picked up a dozen long-stemmed, beautiful roses for only $9.99... the day before Valentine's!!!


I got a lot more pictures so my love letter to Trader Joe's can continue.  Here's hoping someone from TJ HQ hears it!

Peanut Butter

Every time I visit a lucky city with a Trader Joe's, I buy six jars of Unsalted Peanut Butter, among other things. It is the best peanut butter I have ever had. Just peanuts. No shortening or oils added. And it is delicious.

I ran out of all my stocked-up peanut butter last week and have been calling all of my friends and relatives to see if they are coming up to Utah to visit and would they mind bringing me a jar or two of PB from TJs?!

It's an illness, one I am willing to keep having if only Trader Joe's would COME TO UTAH!!
